Size doesn't matter. Just ask the dwarf mongoose — our endearing little totem and Africa's smallest mammalian carnivore. It overcomes its diminutive stature with intelligence, working co-operatively as a collective to survive and beat the odds. We rather like that.


The Safari Collective is a boutique marketing and brand agency built exclusively for the African safari industry. Founded by award-winning travel and conservation journalist Sharon Gilbert-Rivett — who has been writing about, working in, and deeply loving this industry for more than four decades — we exist to make exceptional safari brands more visible, more compelling, and more commercially successful.


We play to our strengths, not our size. And our greatest strength is understanding, from the inside out, the industry we serve.

WE ARE DRIVEN BY PASSION.

A passion for tourism, for safari, and for Africa — one we are only too happy to share. Our founder has lived in the UK, Kenya, Zimbabwe and South Africa and has travelled sub-Saharan Africa for more than 30 years as a writer and explorer, has visited over 200 lodges and camps from the Okavango to the Masai Mara, and spent years championing responsible tourism as Marketing Manager for Fair Trade Tourism. This isn't a business interest. It's a life's work.

OUR HISTORY.

The Safari Collective was born from a simple idea: that decades of hard-won experience in African travel, conservation, journalism, and marketing shouldn't sit idle. It should be put to work — for the safari brands and operators who deserve better marketing than they're getting.


Founder Sharon Gilbert-Rivett has been a fixture in this industry since the early 1990s — as a journalist, travel editor, documentary filmmaker, tour operator, sustainability advocate, and now brand strategist. The Safari Collective is the culmination of everything she has learned about Africa, storytelling, and what makes a safari brand truly memorable.

OUR PEOPLE.

At the heart of The Safari Collective are two people: Sharon, who brings the strategic thinking, editorial authority, and deep industry knowledge; and Luke van Wyk, whose technical brilliance and design instincts bring our clients' digital presence to life.


Where a project calls for additional specialist expertise — in digital performance, analytics, or creative production — we draw on a trusted network of partners who share our standards and our values.
